Attending NYLA 2012

Attending the New York Library Association (NYLA) annual conference and trade show November 7-10, 2012 in Saratoga Springs was both exhausting and exciting.  As a faculty member, I was strongly encouraged to attend the state conference that claimed to write the next chapter in the field of library and information science.   It is the oldest state library association in the country and at the forefront of innovation.  This is the setting where library professionals can get a glimpse of the future direction of the field and receive help to “navigate an uncertain future” (NYLA, 2012).  As keynote speaker David Weinberger brought out, the Internet has changed society and librarians must sort through this “new digital disorder.”    Read Full Post
